Junior High Baseball: Bishop Mac falls in State Quarterfinal

The Bishop McNamara Junior High baseball team couldn't overcome a dominant pitching performance from Teutopolis hurler Caleb Siemer during Friday afternoon's quarterfinal match-up with the Wooden Shoes at Eastside Centre in East Peoria, as the Irish fell 5-1.

Siemer earned the win for the Wooden Shoes, surrendering one run on three hits over seven innings, striking out three.

Michael O’Connor took the loss for the Irish, allowing five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out nine.

Collin Barzantny, Jaxson Provost, and Drew Willis each managed one hit for the Bishop Mac offense, while Teutopolis racked up seven hits in the game.

The Irish finished their season with a 14-2 record.

Teutopolis went on to beat Tremont in the Semifinal Round with an 11-1 run-rule victory, but then dropped the Championship Game to St. Joseph by a 10-4 score.
